Postural stability instructor
for the prevention of falls and injury in older people
Each year, 35% of over 65’s will have a fall, and 45% of people over 80 who live in the community will fall.
As we get older, our strength, balance and coordination decline – making it harder to do some activities we used to do. If you’ve suffered a fall, it may make you less confident to move about and enjoy an independent life.
In fact, less than 50% of over 65’s will regain their former level of confidence.
PSI (Postural Stability Instruction) has been specifically designed improve physical function, to improve postural stability and reduce the risk of falls.
It is based on published research showing a reduction in falls and falls injuries in people who have a high risk of falls. Through a range of exercises that work on different areas of your fitness, PSI classes will safely but effectively develop your confidence, strength, and balance.

Have you had a fall?
If you’re looking for Postural Stability or Falls Prevention Classes, contact your GP, Health Visitor or the organisation Go Active to find organised classes in your area.
PSI is relatively new and some health professionals may not yet be aware of any classes in your area. You are welcome to put them in touch me to discuss how we might develop programmes in your community that will help you and others.
Are you a Health Professional looking for a PSI or Falls Prevention Instructor?
I’m a member of the Register for Exercise Professionals, Level 4 qualified. I am a qualified Postural Stability Instructor, having undertaken the LLT PSI course in 2016. The course has Endorsed Training Status with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and is also endorsed by Age UK (Help The Aged & Age Concern); AGILE; BGS; BHF NCPAH; and NCAA.
As I PSI (FaME) instructor, I am qualified to plan and deliver an exercise programme for frailer older people, which will safely and effectively improve their physical function, and in particular their postural stability, in order to reduce their risk of falls.
I enable a smooth transition between primary care and community leisure settings, supporting physiotherapists and occupational therapists, and providing ongoing assessment of health and functional capacity.
Contact me to discuss how I can assist you in delivering PSI classes in your nursing home, health centre, or local community setting.
